Desc: Wed love to have them photograph one of our national trails. Too often books like this just feature the spectacular spots. Our trails are humble but well loved and beautiful.
Diverse, quiet pedestrian trail that goes through tall grass prairie, savanna, brook, stream valley, wetland and maple sugar bush.

Main trailhead is at the corner of Bertram and Otis Roads in SE Cedar Rapids about 5 miles from downtown

Connects Waterloo - Cedar Falls metro area to Cedar Rapids metro area.

Desc: An abandoned railway and remnants of the old line still remain on the trail and in the small towns. There is a collection of Indian Burial grounds along the trail and many geological sites, one significant one for the fossil Nautiloid Cepholopods.
Dubuque Trailhead - Hwy 52 north from Dubuque about 3 miles to Rupp Hollow Road. Dyersville Trailhead - from Hwy 20, take Hwy 136 North approx. 3 miles to trailhead.

Desc: The designated 13 miles of National Recreation Trail managed by the Corps of Engineers is an internal section of 26 miles, which extends from Des Moines to Big Creek State Park. The trail is asphalt and has available restrooms and bike rentals neraby. Neal Smith wanders through corps managed campgrounds, picnic areas, and fishing spots along the Des Moines River, The trail also features a butterfly garden with resident and migrating butterflies, yellow-headed coneflowers, zinnias, and butterfly bush. Natural Oak Savannah, wetlands, and a 709-acre praire brings visitors back to a natural state of Iowa.
Saylorville Lake is on the Des Moines River 7 miles from Des Moines, accessible from I80 and 35.
